60 Earth Hour

Hope you all got heard this before. Actually this is the second time I heard about it after I read from some magazines. When I first read it, I was like: 'Whao.. Really got this kind of thing happen. People switch off their lights for 1 hour just to save the world. It's quite amazing and this make me go search from the website and youtube to have a look. It's fascinating...

This year, Earth Hour has been transformed into the world’s first global election, between Earth and global warming. For the first time in history, people of all ages, nationalities, race and background have the opportunity to use their light switch as their vote – Switching off your lights is a vote for Earth, or leaving them on is a vote for global warming. This year Malaysia also participate in this campaign. The advertisement that is aired on tv really touched me.

People around the world joining the campaign and switch off the lights. Sydney is the first place start this Earth Hour in 2007. In 2009, Earth Hour is being taken to the next level, with the goal of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from.

VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet. Over 74 countries and territories have pledged their support to VOTE EARTH during Earth Hour 2009, and this number is growing everyday.

But, sometimes I will think, down in my heart, I got some doubts and questions on this. Is this really help to reduce global warming. Turn off 1 hour light for me means I switch off the light one hour earlier than usual. There are still many things that increase the global warming. Why are still people doing things that affect it but not trying to reduce it. Hard to understand the thinking of human beings.

Anyway, Earth Hour 2009 really coming soon. Still left 8 days. We all have a vote, and every single vote counts.

VOTE EARTH by simply switching off your lights for one hour, and join the world for Earth Hour.
